The long drive to Moorhill House winds though sun-dappled woodland before reaching the inviting bed & breakfast with its peaceful atmosphere.
The dog-friendly bed & breakfast, which has 31 rooms, has a traditional English lawn for guests to play croquet and badminton on, and beautiful gardens.
Stroll down to the mystical village of Burley, a place where the ancient tradition of comoning (where animals are allowed to graze freely in the forest) is still practised so be prepared to share the pavements with donkeys and ponies. The village’s long association with witchcraft, dragons and smugglers makes it a fascinating day out, and near the hotel is the village cricket ground and a great golf course. You can build sandcastles and splash in the sea at the nearby beaches and, of course, there is the New Forest to explore either by foot, bike or horse.
Our sister hotel, Burley Manor, is also located in the village and offers exquisite Mediterranean infused dishes should you be looking for somewhere to dine.
After a long day spent enjoying the forest, relax or catch up with friends in the bar – we are sure you’ll enjoy what we have to offer.
Originally called Shabden Hill, Moorhill House is understood to have been built in 1861 as a private residence. In 1901, it was donated to be a Holiday Home for Nonconformist Ministers. Many additions and improvements have taken place since then, and the property was acquired by New Forest Hotels (now New Forest Collection) in the early 1980’s, and has been under our ownership since.
